Healthcare
About the Initiative
Access to healthcare is a distant dream for the marginalized communities of Kumirmari Island and the surrounding areas in the Sunderbans. Geographical isolation, lack of infrastructure, and financial constraints make quality medical care elusive for many.
Recognizing this critical need, the Biswangan Foundation has launched a comprehensive healthcare initiative to provide essential medical services and promote health awareness among the local population.
Our initiative focuses on:
- Organizing periodic health camps to check the vitals of marginalized residents.
- Conducting regular health check-ups for students of Biswangan Shiksha Niketan.
- Spreading awareness about preventive healthcare and healthy living practices.
- Providing free medicines and directing patients to local healthcare facilities for further treatment.
Our Objectives
Improve Access to Healthcare
Bring essential medical services to underserved communities.
Promote Preventive Care
Educate locals on maintaining good health and preventing diseases.
Ensure Child Well-being
Monitor and improve the health of students at Biswangan Shiksha Niketan.
Empower Communities
Equip locals with the knowledge and resources to take charge of their health.

Why This Matters
The Sunderbans region faces unique challenges, including limited access to healthcare facilities, poor infrastructure, and a lack of awareness about preventive care. As a result, many treatable conditions go undiagnosed and untreated, leading to unnecessary suffering and loss of life.
Our healthcare initiative aims to bridge this gap by:
- Bringing medical services directly to the community.
- Educating locals on how to prevent diseases and maintain good health.
- Ensuring that children at Biswangan Shiksha Niketan grow up healthy and strong.
